CEPO Conference in Keszthely

The CEPO ( Centre of Excellence for Poultry) started nearly 3 years ago as the joint project of University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna and the University of Pannonia Georgikon Faculty. The latest professional program, with conference and workshops, was held in Oct. 18 in Keszthely. A professional exchange program was the frame of our prestigious program; PhD students and teachers arrived from the University of Veterinary Medicine as scholarly experts and they could attend some professional programs held connected to the conference.

Summary about the student and expert exchange on 26–28 June 2013

Student and expert exchange - last year’s programme of great success – continued this June with a new team of participants. On the basis of earlier experiences, this year’s programme was formulated in the way that participants can have the chance to gain new information through presentations by practicing professionals, and also gain personal and first hand experiences by visiting operating farms and plants.

Hungarian experts visit poultry production related institutions in Tulln

Within the frames of CEPO project a group of Hungarian experts visited Vetmeduni Vienna on 22-23 April 2013. On the first day of the programme Biomin received the Austrian and Hungarian expert in Tulln. Biomin produces and offers quality animal nutrition products such as quality feed additives and premixes, which include solutions for mycotoxin risk management, a groundbreaking natural growth promoting concept as well as other specific solutions which address dietary requirements for poultry.

Conference on Poultry nutrition and the balance of gut flora in Vienna on 11 October, 2012

In the frames of CEPO – Centre of Excellence for Poultry project a big event is organized each year, where current research topics as well as results achieved in the project are presented. Acknowledged representatives of the profession are also invited to give lectures regarding various topics of interest to professional target groups regarding poultry nutrition and poultry health. 2011 conference was organized on 11 October in Vienna.

Summary of the student and expert exchange

After the international symposium organised in the frames of CEPO project, the Austrian partner arranged professional visits for the participating students and experts. Students studying animal breeding and nutrition at the Georgikon Faculty of the University of Pannonia and the expert arriving with them visited the turkey slaughterhouse in Pöttelsdorf. Here they could have an insight into the industrial processing of turkey meat and could visit the premises where end products ready for consumption are produced.
